get your collar on

Jennifer Beeman

Through a combination of instructions and demonstrations students will learn how to properly apply a collar with stand as well as insert continuous sleeve plackets

This price includes entry to the entire Soul Craft Festival for the day of the masterclass.

At the completion of class students will have learned the proper steps to successfully assemble and attach a collar as well as how to sew continuous sleeve plackets. They will leave with a shirt that has the collar attached and plackets inserted and is ready to be finished.

  • A copy of the Archer Button Up Shirt Pattern
  • Appropriate yardage of your chosen fabric for your size pre-cut and partially sewn (see homework notes). For this class, the use of plaid and checks is discouraged somewhat due to the issues of matching the fabric.
  • Remaining pieces cut from fabric.
  • Matching thread.
  • Dressmaker’s scissors.
  • Small sharp scissors.
  • Pins.
  • Dressmaker’s ham.
  • Point turner or bone folder (no sharp metal knitting needles please!).
  • Sewing machine*.

*Some machines will be available for hire if you are unable to bring your own.

Students are required to be familiar with a sewing machine – threading a machine, winding a bobbin, replacing a bobbin and changing a sewing needle. Students do not need to have applied a collar/continuous sleeve placket previously but do need prior garment sewing experience. Class also is great for people who have collars/continuous sleeve plackets before but have been unsatisfied with the results.

Cut Archer Shirt pattern pieces from your chosen fabric and sew through step 14. For help please see:
